How we got here... and where we're going

From missions to ministry, our lives have always revolved around the LORD and his kingdom's call. For over a decade we've actively served in whatever capacity Jesus has called us and wherever the Spirit has led.
In 2020, we transitioned from Youth with a Mission (an organization we had served with for over 10 years), to our own ministry, Simply Risen Coffeehouse- A refuge dedicated to providing one of the poorest communities in Arkansas a safe and inviting place to grow spiritually, grow communally, and recoup emotionally from the stressors of life. Though largely successful in this vision, we felt God calling us to pass on the torch, and transition back into full time missions in the summer of 22'.
Since that time, we've trusted in the Lord's direction. He has since guided our steps to Ozark Church where we've been involved with the worship team, as well as put us in a place to make a difference in the heart of Ozark's downtown.
And... now that Heidi is of good traveling age, we are looking forward to more international trips abroad, helping other organizations and campuses in the area of food prep and hospitality.
Our Focus
Hospitality has always been our major focus when it comes to missions, more specifically, food.
From Simply Risen Coffeehouse to the kitchen at the Ozark YWAM campus, our aim in this field has always been to make delicious, wholesome, and, often, multicultural cuisine on any budget necessary, and with a certified food managers license, anywhere necessary. To quote an old adage "an army marches on its stomach", this we find true in the mission field today. Indeed, the backbone of any operation relies on how well taken care of your troops are. Food has a way of not only sustaining ones self, but boosting group morale, increasing vim and vigor, and rejuvenating the mind. In many respects, a meal is more than a passing practice we do everyday, it's a way of maintaining our agility to run the race that God has set before us (Tim 4:7, Heb 1:1-ff).
Though food and drink is our specialty, all acts of service fit perfectly within our shared personalities. We enjoy being where help is needed. Painting, physical labor, housekeeping, building projects, delivery, even activity planning such as backpacking or outreach scouting are areas we thrive in. It is an important part of our ministry that we stay flexible in more than one area so that we can be used by Jesus when necessary with and open heart, no matter the assignment.
